Renaissance GOLD

Hi all, on the 21st July 2007(saturday), the sec 1's, and sec 2's went to the NUS cultural centre to watch The Renaissance GOLD, a performance by the Saint Josephs Institution Military Band to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The performance overall wa very exciting, as the band members were very talented.

I really enjoyed it, but I was rather annoyed because other members of the audience were being really irritating, imitating the conductor with exaggerated arm movements, talking very loudly, trying to do very uncoordinated Kallang Waves. The music however, was pleasant and exciting. I especially liked the part where they played the theme song to the Pirates Of The Carribean, but they also played The Josephian March, Generation March, Hallelujah, The theme song to Mission Impossible and many more. There were quite a few significant band members, such as a few saxophonists, who performed excellent solos. The drummer also performed quite impressively with all the quick arm movements.

The NUS Cultural Centre was a very impressive place to behold. It was definitely a better place to hold the concert instead of our PAC, as it was much bigger and reminded me rather of the esplanade theatres. I am glad that we went to the NUS Cultural centre instead of the PAC.

The performance was brilliant and I wish that we could have such performances more often.
